From Sauda to worldwide
The story of INOSA started at the Eramet smelting plant in Sauda. Three control rooms were to be combined into one, the employees had to be trained in new procedures, and all we had were long verbal descriptions. Training new operators was time-consuming, varied from person to person and was difficult to quality assure.
We saw the need for a tool that could function for both training and document management.
IKEA has taught us that it is easier to understand pictures and drawings than plain text. In the process industry in Brazil, symbols, pictures and colour coding are successfully used to both explain and communicate.
NVD in Tønsberg participated in developing a quality system based on pictures and symbols. The operators were equipped with cameras and took pictures of their tasks. ePro was born – a live quality system developed by the operators themselves. ePro has since changed its name to INOSAhow.
We soon realized this was a system applicable to other businesses. The spring of 2006 saw the dawn of INOSA.
The INOSA products are currently in use all over Norway. Businesses in the USA, Qatar, Germany and Australia have also discovered INOSAhow, INOSAwho and INOSAwhen. Language represents no barriers!
